New fraud scam detected in the name of UPI payment, know how to avoid it

A new type of fraud has been revealed in the name of UPI payment. If you also make UPI payment, then you need to be careful of such frauds. Scammers are constantly finding new ways to trap people. People are being cheated sometimes in the name of gifts, delivery and prize money. A user shared information about this fraud being done in the name of UPI payment on ‘X’.

The user has shared a video from the X handle, in which the scammer calls himself a representative of the bank and asks to update the KYC of the account. For this a link is sent and asked to visit a particular website. After visiting the website, the user gets the option to enter the UPI PIN. Although the user understood the trap and did not enter the PIN.

How to avoid?

According to the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India, never share your UPI PIN, password etc. with anyone. No bank asks for PIN, password, OTP etc. from any customer.

Never open messages or e-mails from an unknown number and links to WhatsApp to avoid fraud through UPI.

Scammers send payment accepting links through message, as soon as you open the link you will get the option to make payment.

Your wisdom is the biggest weapon to avoid any kind of fraud.

Ignore incoming calls in the name of Bank KYC Update, Prize Money, Delivery, Courier etc.
