UP Weather Update: Heavy rains predicted in many parts of UP, 16 Dead in last 24 hours
Lucknow| Monsoon now seems to cover the whole sky of Uttar Pradesh. It rained in more than a dozen cities of eastern UP on Friday. According to IMD, rainfall may further increase on Saturday and Sunday. The Meteorological Department said that there are chances of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in 36 districts of Uttar Pradesh. This will provide great relief to people from the humid and heat. Thunderstorm alert continues in many districts of the state. Three people died in Fatehpur, two each in Sultanpur, Banda and Mirzapur, one each in Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur and Prayagraj due to lightning amid rain.
Three children also died due to wall collapse in Greater Noida of Gautam Buddha Nagar. While two girls were buried under the debris after a mud wall collapsed in Badaun, among which one of them was declared dead.
Atul Kumar Singh, senior meteorologist of the Meteorological Center, said that from Sunday there will be moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms in most areas of the state. During this period, the average maximum temperature across the state is likely to be below normal.
