More than 30,000 employment opportunities created in the country by PLI Auto Scheme: Centre

New Delhi| With the help of Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Auto Scheme, more than 30,000 employment opportunities have been created in the country till March this year. According to Union Minister for Heavy Industries Industry H. D. Kumaraswamy, an investment of Rs 74,850 crore has come into the PLI Auto Scheme. Speaking at an event of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) held in the national capital, the Union Minister said that the government is committed to the growth of the automobile, auto industry and advanced cell chemistry sector.
Kumaraswamy said that Rs 2,938 crore support is being given by the ministry to the domestic automobile industry to promote sustainable advanced technologies etc. Applications have been received from 74 companies under the PLE scheme brought by the Central Government for the EV sector. Out of this, 50 have been given approval and 24 applications have been put up for review.
Under the PLI scheme, auto companies can take a subsidy of 13 to 15 percent on the annual sales figure from the government. This is helping companies increase sales and also reduce high costs due to investment in new technology. Many big schemes are being run by the government to expand the auto sector. It has an Rs 18,100 crore Endwas Chemistry Cell (ACC) scheme. There is a Rs 778 crore Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) and SMEC initiative brought in to attract global EV companies, in which companies will have to invest at least Rs 4,150 crore. According to reports the government is considering a proposal of Rs 11,500 crore for Femme 3 with incentives over a two-year period. The scheme is likely to have incentives for electric buses, three-wheelers and two-wheelers.
