More than 18 lakh people affected as flood wreaks havoc in 16 districts of Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow| Daily lives has been disrupted due to heavy rains in various states of North India. There has been a flood situation in many areas of various states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar. Meanwhile, the State Relief Commissioner’s Office released data stating that a total of 16 districts of Uttar Pradesh are currently submerged in water due to which more than 18 lakh people have been severely affected.

According to the report given by the UP Relief Commissioner’s office, a total of 923 villages in 16 districts of the state Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Shravasti, Gonda, Balrampur, Kushinagar, Shahjahanpur, Ballia, Basti, Siddharthnagar, Barabanki, Sitapur, Gorakhpur, Bareilly, Moradabad and Azamgarh have more than 18 lakh population affected by floods. According to the report released, 250 villages in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh are by floodd. More than one lakh 79 thousand population in the villages of this district has been affected due to flood. 14 flood shelters have been built for the convenience in the district. Apart from Kheri, 43 villages and localities are affected by flood of Garra and Khannaur rivers in Shahjahanpur. At the same time, 83 villages in Siddharthnagar have been flooded.

The report states that more than one lakh 91 thousand hectares of crops have been submerged due to flood. Teams of NDRF, SDRF and PAC have been deployed for relief and rescue operations. A total of 756 shelters and 1122 flood posts have been established to facilitate the flood.
