Jammu and Kashmir: Security forces killed three terrorists in an encounter in Baramulla

Jammu| Three terrorists have been killed in an encounter by security forces in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. Police said that three terrorists were killed in an encounter in Chak Tappar Kriri area of Pattan tehsil of Baramulla district. “The encounter between security forces and terrorists started late Friday evening in Chak Tappar Kriri area of Baramulla district”, police said.

“The operation was postponed last night due to bad light”, he said. The operation was resumed this morning and three terrorists have been killed in the encounter. Officials said, “The search operation is still going on in the area”. The true identity of the slain terrorists and their organization is being ascertained. Meanwhile, anti-terrorist operations are still underway in Chatru village in Kishtwar district of Jammu division, where two Army soldiers were martyred and two others were injured in an encounter with a group of terrorists on Friday.

Voting will be held in the first phase on September 18 in eight assembly seats spread over Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts of Chenab Valley region as well as 16 seats in Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam districts of South Kashmir. Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts will go to polls in the second and third phases of Jammu and Kashmir elections on 25 September and 1 October.

Terrorist attacks on army, security forces and civilians have taken place in the hilly districts of Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kathua, Reasi and Udhampur of Jammu division for more than two months. Terrorists ambush and attack suddenly and then disappear into the forests of hilly areas. A group of foreign terrorists is being held responsible for these attacks. These terrorists are in the number of 40 to 50. The Army has deployed over 4,000 trained soldiers, including elite para commandos and soldiers trained in mountain warfare, in the heavily forested areas of those districts following this report.
