India to be the uncrowned king of the world in global health initiatives, Jaishankar meets WHO chief
New Delhi| During the Covid pandemic, when there was an outcry over thousands of daily deaths across the world and the world was looking towards big countries, India was busy preparing to invent the Corona vaccine to become self-reliant. India finally succeeded in this and invented Covaxin. This vaccine not only saved the lives of the people of India, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted this vaccine to all the countries of the world. India helped all countries in the spirit of “Samast Tu Vasudhaiva Kutambakam”. After this, now the whole world is looking towards India. Therefore, India is now expected to play a bigger role in global health initiatives also.
Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Tedros Adhonom Ghebreyesus on Thursday. During this, he discussed in detail India’s cooperation with global health organizations including in the areas of traditional medicine and public health initiatives. Jaishankar has arrived here from Germany on the last leg of his three-nation tour. It is believed that in the coming time, India will establish its dominance in the global health sector also. He also visited Saudi Arabia during his visit.
Sharing pictures of the meeting on social media platform ‘X’ after meeting WHO Chief, Jaishankar said in the post, ‘‘ Very happy to meet Tedros Dr., Director General of the World Health Organization. Discussed our cooperation at WHO, including traditional medicine and public health.’’ In another post, Jaishankar said he met UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk and shared India’s vision on how to find better solutions to the global human rights situation and challenges.
