New Delhi|Taking a big decision on Thursday, President Draupadi Murmu changed the names of two important halls of Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Murmu has renamed ‘Darbar Hall’ as ‘Republic Pavilion’ and ‘Ashok Hall’ as ‘Ashok Pavilion’.

Rashtrapati Bhavan has issued a statement regarding this. Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi cornered the NDA government at the Center after the names of both the halls of Rashtrapati Bhavan were changed. She said that there is no concept of Darbar, but there is a concept of ‘Shahenshah’. On this pretext, the Congress General Secretary has directly targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Rashtrapati Bhavan Secretariat has said in the statement that the purpose of changing the name is to make the atmosphere of Rashtrapati Bhavan ‘a reflection of Indian cultural values and ethos’. The statement further said that Rashtrapati Bhavan, the office and residence of the President of India, is a symbol of the nation and an invaluable heritage of the people and continuous efforts are being made to make it more accessible to the people.
