The Sachin Tendulkar Foundation (STF) committed to empowering children through sports

New Delhi| National Sports Day celebrates the power of sports in shaping our physical and mental well-being. However, children in rural areas often lack the training and facilities available to their urban counterparts. Sachin Tendulkar Foundation is working with The Mann Deshi Champions, based in Mann Taluka—a drought-prone region in Satara District, Maharashtra to change this.

The Sachin Tendulkar Foundation (STF), committed to empowering children through sports, partnered with Mann Deshi Champions in December 2023 to support their vision of nurturing athletic talent through a grassroots sports program in rural Maharashtra. Sachin Tendulkar Foundation is a key financial backer of a new Mann Deshi Champions facility in Mega City, Mhaswad, District Satara. This state-of-the-art sports complex, set to open in December 2024, will be the first of its kind in rural Maharashtra and a beacon for athletic development in western Maharashtra. The facility will include a basketball court, badminton court, boxing arena, wrestling arena, gymnastics area, and a 150-bed hostel for girls, all designed to provide a world-class sports environment at the grassroots level.

The ‘Travel Coach’ program is another transformative initiative supported by Sachin Tendulkar Foundation. It trains teachers to become sports coaches, impacting nearly 30,000 children across the Kolhapur, Satara, and Sangli districts. This program introduces children to new sports and instills valuable life skills, advancing Mann Deshi’s mission to empower the next generation of rural athletes.
