Share Market Opening Bell: Stock market opened on green mark; Sensex rose in early trade, Nifty also rose
New Delhi| The domestic stock market opened on the green mark on Thursday, the second day of the new year. Sensex rose 242.95 points to 78,750.36 in early trade, while Nifty rose 69.25 points to 23,812.15 points. With this, the rupee fell by 9 paise to 85.73 against the US dollar in early trade.
Earlier, the local stock market had regained momentum on the first day of the new year and BSE Sensex closed up by more than 368 points, while NSE Nifty also crossed 23,700 points. The two-day long decline in Sensex, a standard index based on 30 shares of BSE, was put to rest and it closed at 78,507.41 points, up 368.40 points, or 0.47 per cent, on the first day of the year 2025. It had at one point jumped to 617.48 points during trading. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) index Nifty also closed at 23,742.90 points with a gain of 98.10 points or 0.41 percent.
The BSE Sensex had fallen 109.12 points on Tuesday, while the NSE Nifty had fallen a modest 0.10 points. Last year in 2024, Sensex rose by 5,898.75 points or 8.16 percent while Nifty rose by 1,913.4 points or 8.80 percent.
