Share Market Alert: Greenness in the stock market on the first business day of the week; Sensex jumped, Nifty also jumped

New Delhi| The stock market started on the green mark on the first trading day of the week. Sensex rose 386.95 points to 80,888.94 points in early trade, while Nifty rose 114.05 points to 24,460.75 points. The positive attitude brought a smile on the faces of investors. Similarly, the rupee rose by 19 paise to 84.38 against the US dollar in early trade.

The market rose in early trade
Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty rose in early trade on Monday amid continued inflow of foreign funds, sharp fall in crude oil prices and strong trends in US markets. The 30-share BSE benchmark index climbed 386.95 points to 80,888.94 in early trade. NSE Nifty rose 114.05 points to 24,460.75.

Who benefits and who suffers?
Among Sensex companies, Adani Ports, Asian Paints, Bajaj Finserv, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, HDFC Bank, Power Grid, HCL Tech, Titan and Tata Motors appeared to be among the gainers. Kotak Mahindra Bank fell nearly 6 per cent as the company reported a 7.57 per cent decline in consolidated net profit for the March quarter of FY25. This was reported to be Rs 4,933 crore. State Bank of India, Larsen & Toubro, NTPC and Nestle were also seen lagging behind in this pack of 30 shares. State Bank of India recorded a decline of around 2 per cent, as consolidated net profit for the January-March quarter declined by 8.34 per cent.

Condition of foreign institutional investors
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 2,769.81 crore on Friday, according to exchange data. Foreign investors poured Rs 4,223 crore into the country’s equity market in April. Earlier, foreign capital inflows took place last month after consecutive net withdrawals of Rs 3,973 crore in March, Rs 34,574 crore in February and Rs 78,027 crore in January.

Condition of Asian and American markets
South Korea’s Kospi index was trading with a positive trend in the Asian market. Markets in Japan, China and Hong Kong were closed due to holidays. American markets closed very high on Friday.
