Road restoration and water supply work should be done in coordination with public representatives: CM Yogi

Lucknow| Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to conduct third party audit of the works of the project of providing ‘tap water to every house’ under ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’. He has said that nodal officers should be appointed for every project, who should coordinate with local public representatives and complete all the work on time.

Reviewing the progress of ‘Har Ghar Jal Yojana’, he said that there should be no compromise on the quality of these works related to ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ public interest. Restoration work of roads damaged due to water supply works should be done on time and necessary guidance should also be taken from public representatives. Accountability of departmental officers will be decided on this basis only.

He instructed the officials to ensure quality in the schemes at all costs. Third party verification should also be done. Also, nodal officers should be appointed on every project, who will ensure the quality and timeliness of the works. The objective of the project under Jal Jeevan Mission is that people should get pure drinking water, all such schemes should run continuously without any hindrance.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister took information about the works of Jal Jeevan Mission in the entire state including Bundelkhand and Vindhya region.

Regarding community contribution under ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’, Chief Minister Yogi was informed that 40,951 schemes are approved under Jal Jeevan Mission. Their total work cost is Rs 1,52,521.82 crore. In this, the central share is Rs 71,714.68 and the state share is Rs 71,714.68 crore. The Community contribution amounts to Rs 9,092.42 crore relative to the cost of ‘In Village Infrastructure. The total cost has increased by Rs 13,344 crore due to most of the schemes being made solar based. An additional Rs 6,338 crore will be received as its relative nucleus. There will be a saving of about Rs 1 lakh crore in maintenance and operation during the planning period of the state government.

CM Yogi was informed that 33,229 schemes in Uttar Pradesh are based on solar energy. About 900 MW of solar panels have been installed on these. The Central Government has identified this innovation as the best practice. Due to the creation of solar energy based schemes, emissions of about 1.3 million metric tons of carbon dioxide will be reduced annually. Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, Minister of State Ramkesh Nishad etc. were present in the meeting.
