Punjab ranks first and Rajasthan second in per capita milk availability in the country
New Delhi| Punjab ranked first in the state-wise list in daily milk availability of 1,245 grams per person this year. However, compared to 2022-23, it has declined by three percent. While an increase of 27 per cent has been recorded compared to 2013-14. Per capita milk availability in Punjab during 2013-14 was 980 grams. At the same time, Rajasthan stood second with 1,171 grams of milk per capita availability. This information has been given in the year-end review released by the National Dairy Development Board.
According to the report, on an average, about three times more milk is available daily for every person in Punjab as compared to the national average. If seen in terms of the entire country, an average of 471 grams of milk is available per person every day in 2023-24. Compared to 2013-14, it has increased by more than 53 percent and compared to 2022-23, it has increased by about three percent. Last year, this availability in the country was 459 grams per person.
Gujarat ranks fifth with an average of 700 grams of milk availability per person. There has been an increase of about 5% over the previous year. Whereas compared to 2013-14, it has increased by 38%. Madhya Pradesh had finished sixth with 673 grams of milk availability. This availability was recorded at 640 in Himachal, 577 in Jammu and Kashmir, 543 in Karnataka, 450 in Uttar Pradesh and 446 grams per day per person in Uttarakhand.
According to statistics, Rajasthan stood second in milk availability. There has been an increase of about 105 per cent against 2013-14. At the same time, Haryana is at third place with 1,105 grams of milk availability per person. Per capita milk availability here was 1098 grams in 2022-23. Compared to 2013-14, there has been an increase of more than 38 percent. Andhra Pradesh is at fourth place in this matter. There is an average of 719 grams of milk available per person every day.
According to the report, per capita milk availability in Delhi has declined by three percent compared to 2022-23. During this time, the per capita availability of milk here was 64 grams per day which decreased to 62 grams in 2023-24.
The per capita milk availability in Arunachal Pradesh during 2022-23 was 81 grams per day which dropped by about 57 per cent to 35 grams in 2023-24. Compared to 2013-14, it has fallen by more than 62 percent. Similarly, the per capita milk availability in Manipur during 2022-23 was 62 grams, which has decreased to 54 grams per day in 2023-24.
