Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Singapore’s PM Lawrence Wong
New Delhi| Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Singapore after completing his visit to Brunei. Prime Minister Modi has arrived in Singapore on a two-day visit with the aim of deepening the strategic partnership with the South East Asian nation. During this period, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has met Singapore PM Lawrence Wong in Singapore. PM Modi will stay in Singapore for two days as part of his official visit. During this period, important agreements can be agreed between the two countries. Before going to Singapore, PM Modi made a historic visit to Brunei. He became the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Brunei. During this period, many important agreements were also signed between India and Brunei. PM Modi stressed on increasing cooperation with Brunei in the areas of defence, security, trade and culture. Earlier, the Prime Minister described his visit to Brunei as meaningful and said that it has ushered in a new era to further strengthen India-Brunei relations, which contributes to improving our planet. Prime Minister Modi, who is on a bilateral visit, is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Brunei. He held bilateral talks with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei. In this dialogue, other topics including defence, trade and energy were discussed and views were exchanged on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
In a statement issued before leaving for Singapore, Modi had said, “, I look forward to talks with Singapore on measures to deepen our strategic partnership, especially in new and emerging areas of advanced manufacturing, digitalization and sustainable development. The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement in New Delhi saying, “the two readers will take stock of the progress of India-Singapore Strategic Services and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.”
