New Delhi: Narendra Modi will leave for Poland on 21st August. After Poland, PM Modi will also visit Ukraine. This is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in the last 45 years. PM Modi will be formally welcomed in Warsaw, Poland. Here he will meet President Andrzej Sebastian Duda and hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Apart from this, PM Modi will also meet people of the Indian community living in Poland.

Lodz Governor Dorota Rill has described PM Modi’s visit as important for Poland and the region. She also mentioned the relations between India and Poland. She said Poland sees India as a major partner for trade and other cooperation. Rill said, many business delegations from Poland visit India regularly. Secretary (West) of the Ministry of External Affairs, Tanmay Lal said that of Prime Minister Modi’s visit is important. The visit comes at a time when the two countries are also marking 70 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. He had also said that a unique relationship between India and Poland dates back to World War II during the 1940s, when more than six thousand women and children from Poland took refuge in two princely states of India – Jamnagar and Kolhapur.

After Poland, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also visit Ukraine where he will discuss bilateral relations in trade, humanitarian aid and other areas. He will also meet students and others from the Indian community in Ukraine. It is believed that this visit of Prime Minister Modi will further strengthen the relations between the two countries. Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had visited Russia, where he was awarded Russia’s highest honour.
