Nokia to help Vodafone Idea strengthen 4 G and 5 G networks

New Delhi| Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) has tied up with Nokia to strengthen 4 G and 5 G networks in India. On Saturday, Nokia said that a three-year agreement has been signed between the two companies. Together, Nokia and Vodafone Idea will introduce 5 G networks in major cities of the country which will also provide premium connectivity to VIL customers.

VIL CEO Akshay Mundra said, 5 G’s high speed connectivity will be helpful for both citizens and enterprises. We are ready to work together for high speed connectivity of 5 G with our partners. Nokia said it will also update VIL’s existing 4 G network with multiband radio and baseband devices, which will also be able to support 5 G.

Vodafone Idea has signed a deal with Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung for about $ 3.6 billion (about Rs 30,000 crore) for the supply of network equipment over a period of three years. The company had earlier announced capital expenditures of $6.6 billion. The company has said that with the launch of 5 G in major cities, the coverage of 4 G based on population is to increase from 1.03 billion to 1.2 billion.
