Net direct tax collection increased by 16.45%, reaching 15.82 lakh crore figure

New Delhi| Net direct tax collection so far increased by 16.45% to more than Rs 15.82 lakh crore in the current financial year. The government released figures related to this on Wednesday. Gross direct tax collection by the government so far in 2024-15 rose 20.32 per cent year-on-year to Rs 19.21 lakh crore, data released on Wednesday by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) showed.
Gross tax collection in the same period last year was Rs 15.96 lakh crore. Talking about net direct tax collection, it increased by 16.45 per cent to Rs 15.82 lakh crore from Rs 13.59 lakh crore raised in the year-ago period. Refunds in this period increased by 42.49 per cent to Rs 3.38 lakh crore from Rs 2.37 lakh crore in the year-ago period. Direct taxes typically include corporate tax, personal income tax, securities transaction tax, equalization fee, fringe benefits tax, property tax, banking cash transaction tax, hotel receipt tax, interest tax, expense tax, estate duty, and gift tax.
