KP Sharma Oli sworn-in as the Prime Minister of Nepal

Nepal| KP Sharma Oli took oath as the Prime Minister of Nepal for the fourth time on Monday. The leader of Nepal’s largest communist party was on Sunday appointed by President Ram Chandra Paudel as the Prime Minister of Nepal to lead a new coalition government, which is facing the difficult challenge of providing political stability in the Himalayan nation. Oli, 72, will replace Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, who lost a confidence vote in the House of Representatives on Friday. After which a new government was formed under the leadership of KP Sharma Oli.

KP Sharma Oli has become the Prime Minister with the support of Nepali Congress, the largest party in Parliament. Oli was sworn in by President Paudel at Sheetal Niwas, the main building of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Oli must now secure a vote of confidence from Parliament within 30 days of his appointment in accordance with the constitutional mandate. In the 275-seat House of Representatives (HOR), Oli would need a minimum of 138 votes.
