iPhone production in India crosses $10 billion, record in exports also made
New Delhi| iPhone production in the country has increased to $10 billion in the first seven months of the current fiscal year (FY2025) due to support from the central government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. This information was given by Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. According to the information, out of the $10 billion produced by Apple between April and October this year, about $7 billion worth of iPhones have been exported.
In FY 2024, a total of $14 billion worth of iPhones were manufactured in India. Of this, iPhones worth more than $10 billion were exported.
Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav wrote on social media platform X that this smartphone is another milestone in 7 months for PLI scheme.
The minister said that during this period, a total of $10 billion worth of iPhones have been produced by Apple. Of this, $7 billion has been exported. Including iPhone exports, there has been a total of $10.6 billion in smartphone exports from India in the review period.
Union Minister Vaishnav further said that the Apple ecosystem has created 1,75,000 direct employment opportunities in the last four years. In this, women have got more than 72 percent employment.
The California-based tech giant has exported iPhones worth Rs 60,000 crore (about $7 billion) from India in the first seven months of the current fiscal year, according to industry data. In the April – October period, the company has exported iPhones worth about Rs 8,450 crore (about $1 billion) every month.
The company’s CEO Tim Cook said, “Apple has set the record for the highest ever revenue in India in the July-September period”. We are excited by the enthusiasm we are seeing in India. This year has been extraordinary for Apple.”
Apple’s income has increased 36 percent year-on-year to Rs 66,700 crore in FY24 due to increased demand for iPhones. During this period, the company had made a profit of Rs 2,746 crore.
