Garbage recycling industry: 11 lakh people to get employment; by 2030, the size of the industry to be Rs 3 lakh crore

New Delhi| The government’s emphasis on cleanliness campaign in the country and people’s awareness about cleanliness has given new impetus to the waste recycling industry. Industry companies are also paying special attention to environmental protection with huge investment on new technologies to increase waste recycling capacity.

Resistibility Ltd. Managing Director and CEO of Masood Malik said, today about three lakh tones of garbage is generated every day in the urban areas of the country. Of this, only 20 per cent are recycled every day. This shows that there is immense potential for growth in this industry. It is expected that the size of the industry will increase to three lakh crore rupees by 2030, which is currently 60,000 crore. The waste recycling industry, which employs 1.25 lakh, has the potential to employ over 11 lakh people by 2030.

The company, spread across many cities of the country including Hyderabad, is now preparing to set up a garbage recycling plant in Lucknow, UP also. The nearly Rs 5,000 crore company is spread across 11 countries, including Singapore. The company not only recycles garbage but also makes tiles, fertilizers, polybags, electricity and other products from it.

Resistibility Ltd. Generates electricity from 2,500 to 3,000 tones of waste every day at its plant in Jawahar Nagar, Hyderabad. In addition, she processes 20,000 tons of e-waste annually at the E-West refinery, a joint venture with American company Rayldon.
