Cabinet decision: Road-sewer work to be expedited, development money to be transferred directly to authorities and bodies
Lucknow| Now the pace of development in authorities and local bodies will accelerate. Two percent development fee to be charged from the stamp department will be sent directly to the concerned authorities and bodies. With early availability of funds, works like roads, severs, water and road lighting will gain momentum. The Stamp Department receives more than Rs 1,000 crore as development fee every year. The cabinet approved this proposal on Tuesday. Stamp and Registration Minister Ravindra Jaiswal said that as per the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, this proposal was presented in the cabinet giving top priority to development. Stamp duty in the state is 4 per cent for women and 5 per cent for men. A 2 per cent development fee is charged additionally if the property is in an urban area or body area.
Facilities like roads, sewer, water etc. are provided in the area related to this. He said that earlier the registry department used to collect development fees and release this money directly to the authorities and bodies. In the year 2013, it was changed by passing a resolution in the SP government. Under this, the right to issue money directly from the Stamp Department was taken and given to the Finance Department. According to the Stamp Minister, the intention behind this was that the money released under the head of development fee should be used in other schemes. Due to this, the vehicle of development in the areas falling under the authority and local bodies would move forward with brakes.
On Tuesday, the Cabinet gave the authority to release money directly to the Stamp Department. This decision will provide great relief to the late authorities and bodies. This will rapidly improve the basic infrastructure. People’s complaints will reduce and local bodies will be strengthened.
