New Delhi| Software giant Infosys on Wednesday laid off at least 30 to 45 trainees from its Mysore branch. According to reports, these trainees reportedly failed to meet the company’s internal evaluation standards. Affected trainees, who were part of the Foundation Skills Training Programme, were given a number of opportunities for additional preparation, including mock assessments and doubt-solving sessions. However, despite these efforts, he could not meet the passing criteria, due to which he was dropped.

Sources said the dismissal decision came only a short time after the company laid off some 350 trainees in February. These trainees had suffered considerable delays in placement, having to wait more than 2.5 years before being hired. Fresh layoffs have raised concerns surrounding the company’s training and evaluation practices, particularly its entry-level process.

Infosys, known for its rigorous training programmes, typically invests significant resources in the onboarding and skill development of its new employees. However, the company’s internal valuations are becoming increasingly stringent. And recent layoffs have been made for that reason. The company has not yet issued any official statement regarding the latest layoffs.
