New Delhi| Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has given a big gift to pensioners across the country. Now they will be able to withdraw their pension amount from any branch in the country. EPFO has completed the nationwide implementation of the new Centralized Pension Payment System (CPPS) under the Employees’ Pension Scheme 1995. Under this, pensions worth about Rs 1,570 crore were distributed to more than 68 lakh pensioners belonging to all 122 pension distribution regional offices of EPFO for December 2024.

The first pilot project of Centralized Pension Payment System (CPPS) was successfully completed in October 2024 with pension disbursement of around Rs 11 crore to over 49,000 EPS pensioners in Karnal, Jammu and Srinagar regional offices.

The second pilot project was taken up in November 2024 in 24 regional offices, distributing pensions worth around Rs 213 crore to over 9.3 lakh pensioners. Announcing this, Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, “The full implementation of Centralized Pension Payment System (CPPS) in all the regional offices of EPFO is a historic milestone”

He said, “Under this transformative initiative, pensioners will be able to easily get their pension from any bank, any branch, anywhere in the country”. They won’t need to go to a branch for physical verification.”

After the implementation of the centralized pension payment system, now pension withdrawal will be possible at any branch across the country even without transfer of Pension Payment Order (PPO). This system will provide maximum help to those pensioners who go to their home city after retirement. EPFO has said that it is continuously working to improve the convenience of pensioners. Implementing CPPS across the country is a major corrective step taken in this direction.
