Network of pipes is being laid for water facilities in the Mahakumbh fair area
Prayagraj| Work has started to settle the temporary Mahakumbh city in Sangam area of Prayagraj. Following the instructions of CM Yogi, the fair authority and all the major departments of the state are engaged in development work on war footing. In this direction, UP Jal Nigam Urban is also working with full commitment for uninterrupted water supply in the entire fair area during Mahakumbh. Jal Nigam Urban will carry out uninterrupted water supply work in the entire Mela area with the help of a 1249 km long network of pipes and 56,000 connections. So that the devotees, ascetics and Kalpavasis coming to the fair do not have to face problems.
In Mahakumbh 2025, UP Jal Nigam Urban, Prayagraj is doing the work of supplying drinking water to the entire mela area. For this, the work of laying a pipeline network for water supply has started in the huge fair area spread over 25 sectors and 4,000 hectares. In this regard, Executive Engineer of Jal Nigam Urban, Amitraj said that this time the fair area is the largest as compared to the earlier Kumbh Mela. A network of approximately 1,249 kilometres of pipes is being laid to supply water throughout the Mela region. So that water can be easily supplied from Parade Ground, Sangam area to Phaphamau and Arail and Jhunsi areas. For this, Jal Nigam is doing urban work at a cost of Rs 40 crore, which will be completed by 30 November.
Describing the water supply in the Mahakumbh Mela area, the Executive Engineer said that after laying the pipeline, about 56,000 water connections will be made along the roads, to Akhara camps, Kalpavasis and administration tents. He informed that roadside connections and installation of taps will be completed by 30 November. The work of installing water connections in the camps of Akharas and Kalpavasis will be done along with setting up their camps. The water supply will be carried out from pumping stations with the help of 85 tube wells and 30 generators. So that there is no disruption in uninterrupted water supply in the entire fair area during Mahakumbh. Engineers and employees of Sector Wise Jal Nigam will also be deployed in the fair area for work inspection.
