Industry megastar Ratan Tata passes away, wave of mourning across the country

New Delhi| Ratan Tata, 86, who was a prominent name in Indian industry and former chairman of the Tata Group, passed away. He died at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, where he was suffering from illness for a long time. N Chandrasekhar, current chairman of Tata Sons, said in a statement, “It is with a feeling of extreme loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata. An extraordinary leader whose incomparable contribution not only shaped the Tata Group but also woven the core fabric of our nation. He was a mentor, guide and friend to me.”
Praising the achievements of the group under Tata’s leadership, he said that Ratan Tata has expanded excellence, integrity and innovation. His ethical principles took the Tata Group to a new height. Tata’s dedication to philanthropy and social service has left a deep mark in the lives of millions of people through his contribution to education and healthcare. Chandrashekhar said, “his legacy will continue to inspire us as we strive to uphold his principles.”


Ratan Tata’s demise is a major loss to Indian industry, and his contribution will always be remembered. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said in his condolence message by tweeting, “Saddened by the demise of Shri Ratan Tata”. He was a stalwart of Indian industry, known for his significant contributions to our economy, trade and industry. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans. Peace be to his soul.”
Ratan Tata took the Tata Group to a new height during his tenure. His simplicity, humility and dedication towards social service gave him a special place in the hearts of the people.
