56 lakh people connected in the 10th year of Atal Pension Yojana, enrollment figure reaches 7 crore

New Delhi| The Government of India is running many schemes for the citizens. One of these schemes is Atal Pension Yojana. The scheme is brought for citizens between the ages of 18 and 40. Atal Pension Yojana i.e. API has completed 9 years. In the tenth year of the scheme, information about gross registration figures has been given by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) on Tuesday.

According to information provided by PFRDA, 7 crore people have joined the Atal Pension Scheme so far. So far, more than 56 lakh nominations have been made under this scheme in the year 2024-25. “The plan is in its 10th year and has achieved a major milestone”, the authority said. Under Atal Pension Yojana, citizens are given pension facility at the age of 60 years. It is a pension scheme focused on unorganized sector workers in India, regulated by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority.

Under the scheme, the beneficiary is given a pension of Rs 1,000-5000 per month. The amount of pension is decided on the basis of the contribution given by the beneficiary to the scheme. Any citizen of India can enroll in this scheme. For the scheme, it is mandatory for the person to have a savings account in the post office or bank. “This achievement of bringing the most vulnerable sections of the society under the ambit of pension has been possible due to the tireless efforts of all banks and SLBCs/UTLBCs”, PFRDA said.

In recent times, the regulatory authority has taken initiatives like organizing APY outreach programs at the state and district level, organizing awareness and training programs, publicity through various media channels and conducting regular performance reviews to create awareness about the scheme.
