Global tablet market up 15 percent in second quarter

New Delhi| Global tablet shipments rose 15 percent in the second quarter of this year, while historically the period has been slow.
The market rebounded in the second quarter of 2024, as Apple and Samsung launched new products despite no new releases the previous year, according to Counterpoint Research’s latest ‘Global Tablet Market Tracker’. Apart from this, other players in the market also showed strong figures.
Research Associate Kevin Lee said the return of market leaders like Apple and Samsung to normal model release schedules indicates an optimistic outlook for 2024. Apart from Apple and Samsung, Chinese manufacturers like Huawei and Xiaomi have also increased the pace of growth by introducing a diverse range of models in the tablet market, which further increased demand, Li said.

Shipments to the worldwide tablet market look promising for the rest of this year, including the new Apple iPad and Apple iPad Mini, as well as Samsung’s flagship S series. “Demand remains at healthy levels as macroeconomic conditions improve, we expect increased contributions from emerging market segments in 2024”, Associate Director Lidge Lee said, commenting on the immediate outlook for the tablet market

Huawei maintained its position in the top three with consecutive model releases. Xiaomi almost doubled its shipments, contributing to growth in emerging markets, especially in the APAC and MEA sectors. Counterpoint’s report stated that continued launches from Apple and Samsung would spur growth in the second half of 2024.
