Biz Updates: 10 aircraft to join SpiceJet’s fleet, company takes decision after securing investment of ₹3000 crore

New Delhi| Domestic airline SpiceJet will add 10 new aircraft to its fleet by next month. According to the company, the first aircraft will be inducted into the fleet on October 10. The company has reported that seven of these 10 aircraft will be leased. At the same time, there are three aircraft which were previously grounded, they will be re-inducted into the fleet.

The Gurgaon-based company currently operates its services with 19 aircraft. As of October 7, 2024, 36 of the company’s aircraft are grounded, that is, out of service, according to Planespotter.net, a website that tracks the fleet of aircraft.

The addition of new aircraft to its fleet has been announced by Spijet after securing an investment of Rs 3,000 crore through QIP last month. The company is also set to achieve Rs 736 crore separately through its earlier funding rounds, which will help it achieve future growth and stability.

The company said in a statement that it had already concluded agreements for the aircraft to be leased and that all seven aircraft were expected to be in the fleet by November 15.
