94 percent of Indian firms use GenAI in at least one job

New Delhi| Ninety-four per cent of Indian enterprises are using generative AI (GenAI) in at least one job, the highest percentage globally among the 19 countries surveyed. This information came to light in a report.

According to the latest report by AI company Databricks, only 24 percent of Indian participants believe their GenAI applications are production-ready, with people in the Asia-Pacific region considering cost, skill, governance and lack of quality as key challenges in implementing GenAI applications

More than seven out of 10 Indian participants considered AI critical to their long-term goals. Only 29 per cent believe that investment in the technical and non-technical domains is substantial. By 2027, 100 percent of all Indian participants are expected to adopt GenAI in internal and external use cases.

“Businesses in India are increasingly embracing AI, setting a new standard for integrating data-driven solutions given customer needs”, said Anil Bhasin, vice president and country manager, Databricks India.

He said the report “reinforces the importance of data intelligence and highlights that industry leaders will be those who take a holistic approach, focusing on robust data management, governance and specialized expertise.”

India’s AI market is growing at a CAGR of 25-35 per cent and is expected to reach $17 billion by 2027, reports NASSCOM-BCG recently. Whereas many companies are already investing in AI. Within the next three years, Natural Language will be the primary or only way non-technical staff will interact with the complex dataset, according to 86 percent of Indian participants.

The report said organizations are also using AI to improve their customer service, detect fraud and care for patients. In many other use cases, the technology’s long-term potential to accelerate overall business success has been highlighted.
