UPMRC celebrates 7 glorious years of metro services in Lucknow
Lucknow| UPMRC completed 7 successful years of commencement of metro services in Lucknow and the anniversary celebrations were celebrated as 7th Metro Diwas , with this year’s theme dedicated to Women Empowerment.
Padmashri Dr. Arunima Sinha was the Guest of Honors who addressed the gathering at Hazratganj metro Station. She said, “I am an ardent follower of Swami Vivekananda who once said that ‘We are the writers of our destiny’. His great words encouraged me to write my destiny. I feel UP Metro also wrote its own destiny with a commitment and determination like none other. Your team is truly an inspiration for all the metros across India. I indeed salute all the employees of this organization who took this herculean task of completing the construction of metro projects ahead of scheduled time. Most importantly, the fact that you take care of Divyang passengers not just in your construction designs but also through your day to day operational ethics, is truly commendable and inspiring.” She also appreciated the cleanliness and safety arrangements inside Metro trains and at stations.
MD, UPMRC Shri Sushil Kumar attended the event along with Director – Finance, Shri Sheel Kumar Mittal, Director – W&I Shri CP Singh, Director Rolling stock Shri Naveen Kumar and Director Operations Shri Prashant Mishra and all officials of UPMRC.

During this journey we have overcome many challenges with our determination & hardwork. We have recently crossed the ridership figure of 10 crore passengers and it is all because of the whole team of UPMRC who work day and night for excellence. I take utmost pride when I say that Lucknow Metro is the most Inclusive Public Transport with accessibility and Ease of Travel for EVERYONE including Divyangjan, women, elderly and children.”

MD’s Silver medal – Mr. Ankit Saxena, Junior Engineer/ Rolling Stock

• Hazratganj Metro station received the ‘The Best Kept Metro Station’ award.
Passengers Felicitated:
The 10 croreth passenger of UPMRC Ms. Ankita Srivastava was felicitated by MD Shri Sushil Kumar. Apart from this the Top 3 GoSmart card users – Mr. Mintu Sarkar, Mr. Rajan Valmiki and Ms. Preeti were also felicitated. Students of DPS and Jaipuria also performed street play and a classical Bharatnatyam performance infront of the guests.
Walk of Empowerment:
A special highlight of the event was the Walk of Empowerment where women employees of different departments of UPMRC like Operations, Electrical, Civil, S&T walked the ramp as they put forth a show of strength and determination.
