UP: 4,000 purchasing centers set up for paddy procurement, procurement in western UP from Tuesday

Lucknow| Paddy procurement will start in western Uttar Pradesh from October 1. Procurement will be done on different dates in the districts of Lucknow division. Procurement will be held in Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur on October 1 and in Lucknow, Rae Bareli and Unnao along with Eastern Uttar Pradesh on November 1.

The minimum support price (MSP) of paddy has been fixed at Rs 2,300 and paddy grade ‘A’ at Rs 2,320 per quintal. Farmers will be reimbursed at the rate of Rs 20 per quintal for unloading, sifting and cleaning of paddy. A total of 4,000 procurement centres of the Food-Logistics Department and other procurement agencies have been earmarked for the sale of paddy by farmers in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Yogi government has instructed farmers to make payment within 48 hours. Registration for paddy procurement by the Food and Logistics Department had started from September 1. So far, about 32,000 farmers have registered in the districts of the state in 30 days.The minimum support price of paddy has been fixed at Rs 2,300 and paddy grade ‘A’ at Rs 2,320 per quintal. According to the Agriculture Department, the area covered by paddy for Kharif marketing year 2024-25 is 61.24 lakh hectares. Paddy production this year is estimated at 265.54 lakh metric tonnes and the average production is estimated at around 43.36 quintals per hectare. Paddy procurement will start from October 1 in the districts of western Uttar Pradesh, which will continue till January 31. This procurement will be done in Meerut, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Agra, Aligarh and Jhansi divisions of Western Uttar Pradesh.
