Production, storage, sale and use of firecrackers banned in Delhi
New Delhi|Firecrackers have been banned in Delhi. In view of the possibility of increasing air pollution, a complete ban has been imposed on the production, storage, sale and use of all types of firecrackers. This order was issued by the Delhi government on Monday. Last year also, firecrackers were banned to control air pollution in winter.
Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said, “We want to tell the people of Delhi to celebrate the festival by lighting lamps and distributing sweets”. We have to celebrate the festival with pomp. But, equally responsibly, pollution has to be curbed.”
According to Environment Minister Gopal Rai, there will also be a ban on online sale and delivery of firecrackers. This ban will remain in force until 1 January 2025. To implement the ban, a joint action plan will be made in collaboration with the police, DPCC and Revenue Department.
Gopal Rai said, “There is a danger of increasing air pollution in Delhi during the winter season”. Burning of firecrackers also increases pollution in this season. In view of such a situation, like last year, this time too a complete ban is being imposed on the production, storage, sale and use of all types of firecrackers, so that people can be saved from the brunt of pollution. There will also be a complete ban on online delivery or sale of any kind of firecrackers. There should not be any kind of confusion among the people regarding firecrackers, hence this ban is valid for all types of firecrackers
Gopal Rai also said that the government does not want any kind of financial loss to traders and dealers. To avoid any such situation, it has been decided to impose a complete ban on the production, storage, sale and use of all types of firecrackers in time.
Environment Minister Gopal Rai said, Delhi government is very serious about controlling pollution. To control pollution, the government is making a ‘Winter Action Plan’ based on 21 focus points. In the coming days, various campaigns will be run as per the Winter Action Plan, so that pollution can be controlled. In such a situation, we appeal to the residents of Delhi to co-operate with the government to control pollution. We all have to take responsibility together to control pollution in Delhi. If every citizen of Delhi becomes a ‘pollution warrior’ and takes charge to save the environment, then we will be able to curb pollution crisis permanently.
