Musk’s SpaceX sues US labor agency

New Delhi| Elon Musk-run SpaceX has sued the US National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). The agency had filed a complaint against SpaceX accusing it of illegally firing eight employees for criticizing the CEO. In a lawsuit filed in federal court, SpaceX claimed the NLRB’s action is unconstitutional.
“This action is an unlawful attempt by the NLRB to subject SpaceX to an administrative proceeding, in violation of Article 2, Fifth Amendment, and Seventh Amendment of the U.S. Constitution”, said the suit, filed in the U.S. state of Texas. It claimed that the NLRB’s proceedings violated SpaceX’s constitutional right to trial by jury. The US Labor Agency has not yet commented on the lawsuit. The Labor agency had alleged that SpaceX monitored and threatened its employees. The Labor agency claimed that SpaceX created a surveillance perception among employees by reading and showing screenshots of the message. Last year, a group of SpaceX employees wrote an open letter about how Musk’s behavior causes embarrassment to them”.
“Allen’s behavior in the public sector often causes embarrassment for us, especially in recent weeks”, the open letter read. “It’s important to make it clear to our teams and our talent group that their message does not reflect our work, our mission or our value”. At the time, a report by Business Insider claimed that SpaceX had paid $250,000 to a flight attendant Musk had sexually assaulted. NLRB wants to compromise with SpaceX. The agency is also asking SpaceX to post a notice about employee rights for 120 days and write a letter of apology to fired employees.
