More than 50 thousand registrations within one month in ‘Bima Sakhi Scheme’

New Delhi| Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative of developed India through women empowerment, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has launched the Bima Sakhi scheme in which more than 50,000 registrations have been done within a month.

LIC said in a statement that a total of 52,511 registrations for Bima Sakhis have taken place a month after the inauguration. According to the company 27,695 Bima Sakhis have been issued appointment letters to sell the policy and 14,583 Bima Sakhis have started selling the policy.

On this occasion, LIC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Siddharth Mohanty said, “Our objective is to cover every Panchayat of the country with at least one Bima Sakhi within a year”

He said that LIC is strengthening the Bima Sakhi stream by providing proper skills to women and empowering them with strong digital tools. He said that apart from the commission earned on the business, the scheme also includes the benefit of monthly payment for three years. According to the plan, each Bima Sakhi will be paid a monthly stipend (payment) of Rs 7,000 in the first year, Rs 6,000 in the second year and Rs 5,000 in the third year.

This stipend works as a basic support allowance. Additionally, female agents can earn commissions based on their insurance policies, and their earnings increase in proportion to the business they bring in. LIC aims to recruit 2 lakh Bima Sakhis in the next three years. Women aged between 18 and 70 who have received education up to the 10th grade are eligible to apply.
