Market: Increase in sales of Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors vehicles, two percent decline in Hyundai Motor India
New Delhi| The current wedding season, continued demand in rural areas and strong attraction for sports utility vehicles (SUVs) have led to a surge in passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market in November, 2024. Maruti Suzuki India sold a total of 1,41,312 passenger vehicles last month, five per cent more than the 1,34,158 units sold in November, 2023.
Tata Motors’ sales of passenger vehicles, including electric vehicles, increased by two per cent year-on-year to 47,063 units. However, recently listed Hyundai Motor India’s domestic sales of passenger vehicles fell two per cent year-on-year to 48,246 units last month.
The company’s total sales increased by 44 percent to 25,586 units. JSW MG Motor sold 20 per cent more vehicles. Partho Banerjee, senior executive officer (marketing and sales), Maruti Suzuki India, said, there has been an increase in demand for vehicles from rural areas. The company’s rural reach increased by 2.2 percent to 48.7 percent in November. At the same time, Hyundai Motor India achieved its highest ever monthly rural contribution of 22.1 per cent last month. Regarding the urban market, Banerjee further said, we do not see the same attraction as October. Urban customers usually wait for December for year-end offers.
