‘Laapata Ladies’ makes official entry for Oscars 2025

New Delhi| India’s official entry for the Oscars 2025 has been announced. Made under the direction of Kiran Rao, ‘Missing Ladies’ will represent India at the 97th Academy Awards. It has been nominated for the Best Foreign Film category. Members of The Film Federation of India have announced India’s official entry into the Academy Awards. Made in Aamir Khan Productions, this film starred Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Srivastava and Nitanshi Goyal in lead roles. Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam have played important roles in this film.

The Hindi film ‘Laapata Ladies’, a light-hearted satire on patriarchy, was selected from a list of 29 films, including Bollywood hit ‘Animal’, Malayalam National Award winner ‘Aattam’ and Cannes winner ‘All We Imagine is Light’. The 13-member selection committee headed by Assamese director Jahnu Barua unanimously decided to include Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao produced ‘Missing Ladies’ in the Best International Film category at the Academy Awards. Tamil film “Maharaja”, Telugu film “Kalki 2898 AD” and “Hanu-Maan” have also been overtaken by the film. The list of 29 films also included “Swatantraya Veer Savarkar” and “Article 370”.
