India-US to work together to secure global clean energy supply chain

New Delhi| A partnership of one billion dollars has been announced by India and America to secure the global clean energy supply chain, so that the increasing use of clean energy can be taken advantage of. This includes opportunities for high-quality jobs, advancing clean energy more rapidly, and achieving global climate goals. This funding will be used to expand the supply chain of solar, wind, batteries, energy grid systems and high-capacity ACs and fans.
“We are committed to working together to exploit the growing use of clean energy and this is a key aspect of our economic growth agenda”, the government said after a meeting between President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the sixth Quad Leaders Summit in Wilmington, Delaware. The objective of both the countries is to expand manufacturing capacity in clean energy technology.
Both governments have promised to work with industry leaders. The primary focus in this will be on solar wafers and wafers manufacturing, next generation solar cells, wind turbine nacelle equipment, power transmission line equipment including conductors, cabling, transformers and next generation technology, energy storage equipment including batteries, battery packs for 2 – and 3-wheel electric vehicles and zero-emission e-bus and trucks equipment and high-efficiency air conditioners and ceiling fans. A partnership commitment has been made with the private sector to support the initial package of pilot projects for both countries, including a project ideally focused on clean energy deployment in Africa.
