Former RBI Governor praised the Centre’s work on infrastructure, said – ‘There is still a lot of work left’

New Delhi| Raghuram Rajan, former Governor of Reserve Bank of India, has praised the work done by India in the field of infrastructure conservation in the last 10 years. However, he has said that more needs to be done in different sectors to increase manufacturing domestically and create employment. In an interview with PTI, Rajan said the government’s emphasis on production, be it goods or services – is a good thing, but it is also important that it is done properly.

Speaking on a question related to Make in India, a major initiative of the Modi government, the former RBI Governor said, “I would say that the intention is good”. I believe that in some areas, we’ve done a lot, like I’ve said we’ve done a lot in the area of infrastructure, which has been very useful”. The central government launched its flagship ‘Make in India’ 10 years ago on 25, September 2014. Rajan said, “But we need to inspect other areas”. The best way to do this is to ask critics, how do you think? What has happened? Has that happened the way you want? Should we do more? You take feedback and then you work.”
