E-Shram portal now available in all 22 scheduled languages
New Delhi| Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched the multilingual facility on the e-Shram portal. Its objective is to provide easy access to various government schemes to unorganized workers. According to a statement from the Ministry of Labour, the portal will now be available in all 22 scheduled languages. This step is in line with the government’s vision of making e-Shram a ‘one stop solution’. Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment and many senior officials were present in the program.
This step is another milestone in the government’s efforts to provide social security to unorganized workers. The e-Shram portal has been updated in 22 languages using the Bhashini project of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Earlier, this portal was available only in English, Hindi, Kannada and Marathi. In the program, Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that this is a growing confidence in the e-Shram platform. He said that on an average, more than 30 thousand registrations are taking place every day by unorganized workers on the portal.
The Minister appealed to all unorganized sector workers to register on the e-Shram portal, so that they can avail the benefits of various government schemes which have been created for their welfare, livelihood and well-being. He also informed that registration on the portal will give unorganized workers access to social security schemes and initiatives. So far, 12 government schemes have been availed through the e-Shram portal.
Mandaviya said that the help of intermediaries like Common Service Centres, Bank Connectors, Post Offices will be taken to increase the reach of the portal and ensure better experience for the users. Labor Secretary Sumita Dawda said that the ministry is developing e-Shram as a one stop solution to provide easy access to social security and welfare schemes to unorganized workers. He said that the process of linking the schemes of state governments with the e-Shram portal is also going on.
