Dharavi is a project that I personally wanted to complete: Gautam Adani

New Delhi| Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said that Dharavi’s rehabilitation is a project which has been not only the group’s wish but also their personal wish to complete. Gautam Adani said during a discussion, “Personally, not just from the group point of view, but also at the personal level, I always thought that this project could become a legacy”. How can you provide a dignified life to 1 million people”

He said that in the last 40 years “attempted to rehabilitate Dharavi three times and failed all three times”. So how can I make him successful”. He said Adani Group has achieved many successes, but “it is something I wanted to achieve”. He said he was 62 and would retire in the next 5-10 years. Before that he wants to get it done so that 1 million people will remember it for another 50 years.

Talking about the balance between work and personal life, he said that his world is limited to only two things – work and family. Children are also seeing the same and naturally the same values are being developed in them too. Children are equally hardworking. “All you have to see is that I spend four hours with family and I enjoy it”, he said in a light-hearted manner. Whoever spends eight hours will run away

Emphasizing the importance of character, Gautam Adani said, “What should be your personal character is most important”. According to me, everything else is artificial. What you eat, that’s what I eat, so it doesn’t matter”

He said that everyone has to go through the journey of life. When a man understands this much, life becomes simple. Giving his example, he said that he came from an ordinary family and had come to the city only after the 10th, when he did not even know how to speak properly, had never seen the world. “When I sit blindly in meditation, I basically remember my life journey and how I got here”, he said. No family background, no money, no proper education… So how did you reach. So you’re a puppet too, someone’s getting you to do it.”
