CM Yogi called renaming Port Blair as Shri Vijay Puram a historic decision, congratulated the countrymen

Lucknow| Taking a big decision on Friday, the Central Government renamed Port Blair, the capital of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, to Shri Vijay Puram. Describing this decision of the Central Government as historic, CM Yogi described it as being in accordance with the spirit of 140 crore Indians.

CM Yogi wrote on X, “The decision to rename Port Blair as ‘Sri Vijayapuram’ under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in the spirit of 140 crore Indians”. This historic decision, which takes forward the Prime Minister’s resolve to liberate the country from all symbols of slavery, is a consolidated tribute from the entire country to all the martyrs and fighters of the Indian freedom struggle.

He further said, “Reflecting the contribution of Andaman and Nicobar in the freedom struggle, the name Sri Vijayapuram‘ brings us to the glorious past of our country and the sacred memories of the struggles and sacrifices of many immortal sons of Mother India like Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, ‘Swatantrayveer’ Veer Savarkar. Hearty gratitude to the Prime Minister and congratulations to the countrymen for this decision during Amrit Kaal.
