Central Vigilance Commission report: Railways tops in corruption complaints, Delhi local body ranks second

New Delhi| According to the latest report of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), in the year 2023 it received a total of 74,203 complaints of corruption against officers and employees of various departments. Of this, 10,447, or about 14 per cent, were against railway workers alone. At the same time, the local bodies of Delhi are second in this matter, against whose employees 7,665 complaints were received. Of the complaints received against railway personnel, 9,881 were dealt with, 566 are pending. Of the complaints received against local bodies of Delhi, including Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, Delhi Jal Board, Delhi Tourism and Transport Department Corporation, Delhi Transport Corporation, Delhi Transco Limited, Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board, Delhi Municipal Corporation and New Delhi Municipal Council.

4,476 complaints have been filed against Residential and Urban Affairs, 4,420 against Ministry of Coal, 3,217 against Ministry of Labour, 2,749 against Ministry of Petroleum and 2,309 against Ministry of Home Affairs personnel.  According to the report, out of a total of 74,203 complaints of corruption received in 2023, 66,373 have been settled and 7,830 are pending. 7,004 complaints were received against employees of public sector banks in which 6,667 were disposed of. Of the 6,638 complaints of corruption against Delhi Government employees, 6,246 were settled. Of the 5,313 complaints against Delhi Police personnel, 3,325 were disposed of.
