‘Central government should make uniform guidelines in bulldozer case’: Mayawati

Lucknow|Former UP CM Mayawati wrote on social media platform X on Wednesday, “Despite bulldozer demolition not being a symbol of the rule of law, the increasing trend of its use is worrying”. However, when the general public does not agree with it in bulldozers and any other matter, then the Center should come forward and make uniform guidelines for the entire country on it, which is not being done.

She further wrote, “Otherwise, in the case of bulldozer action, the Supreme Court does not have to interfere and fulfill the responsibility of the Central Government itself, which was necessary”. Central and state governments must pay attention to the implementation of the Constitution and legal rule.

The Supreme Court has banned demolition of any construction through bulldozers in the entire country. This ban will remain in force till October 1. The court has fixed the next date of hearing on the same day. The Supreme Court also made it clear that this decision will not apply to action against illegal construction on public roads, footpaths, railway tracks and other public places.

The Supreme Court said that before taking bulldozer action on any property, permission of the court will have to be taken. This cannot be done without the permission of the court. The stay will remain in force until 1 October and is due to be heard again in court on the same day, with a ruling on the future.
