Yearly Report: Women made 28 million applications for jobs; 20 per cent participation in the workforce increased

New Delhi| In the year 2024, there were a total of seven crore applications for jobs, out of which 2.8 crore were from women. According to a recent report, this number is 20 percent more than in the year 2023. The report shows that India’s employment landscape is changing rapidly and women’s participation in the workforce is increasing.
According to the report, the total of seven crore applications received this year is 25 percent more than last year. The report India at Work 2024 employment portal Apna Dot has released. According to the report, the increase in the number of applications is the result of increased participation of women and youth in the workforce. The number of applications for senior and managerial positions has increased by 32 percent, it said, signaling the growing influence of women in shaping the nation’s workforce.
According to the report, women made the highest number of applications at 1.52 crore in tier-1 cities like Delhi-NCR, Bangalore and Mumbai. At the same time, in tier-2 and tier-3 cities like Jaipur, Lucknow and Bhopal, the number of applications made on behalf of women was recorded at 1.28 crore. This shows that employment opportunities are increasing rapidly even outside metro cities.
The report indicates that the average salary of female professionals has registered an increase of 28 per cent in 2024 against 2023. Women are not only excelling in sectors such as health care, hospitality, retail and e-commerce, but are also adopting unconventional roles such as field sales, supply chains and security services.
According to the report, the number of new applicants applying for employment in 2024 exceeded two crore, a 27% increase over 2023. 6 million applications were made in cities such as Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, while 82 lakh applications were received in regions such as Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar.
