Akhilesh Yadav’s questions BJP government on ‘One Nation, One Election’
Lucknow| The ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal was approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. After the approval of the ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal, SP chief and former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav also reacted. He sarcastically said that he would have got the by-elections of Maharashtra, Jharkhand and UP declared.
Akhilesh Yadav wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “If ‘one nation, one nation’ is in the form of principle, then please clarify that all village, town, municipal body elections from Pradhan to Prime Minister will also be held simultaneously. Or at your convenience to make arrangements for the government’s victory or defeat on the pretext of festivals and weather? When BJP topples the elected government of any state, will elections in the entire country be held again?”
He wrote, “If President’s rule is imposed in any state, will the elected government of the people have to wait till the next general elections to come back or will there be re-elections in the entire country? Has any time limit been set for the constitutional amendments that will have to be made to implement this or is this just a phrase raised to put the future on hold like women’s reservation?”
He wrote, “Is this a plan to change the outcome by privatizing the elections? Such apprehension is arising because tomorrow the government will say that it does not have the human and other necessary resources to conduct elections on such a large scale, hence we are also giving the work of conducting elections (to our people) on contract. The public suggests that BJP should first show such elections simultaneously within its party at the district-city, state and national levels and then talk about the entire country”. He further wrote, “On the go, the public is also asking why the election of your own national president is not being held till now, whereas it is heard that there is only ‘one person, one opinion’. Now there is no fight between ‘two persons, two opinions’ in the weakened BJP.”
