Biz Updates: Coastal states meet on April 28, Center to announce fisheries projects worth Rs 255 crore
New Delhi| Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of major projects costing Rs 255.30 crore for seven coastal states and union territories under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) on Monday.
At the Coastal States Conference to be held in Mumbai, the Minister will launch major initiatives aimed at strengthening marine fisheries and promoting sustainable practices. During this time, the Marine Fisheries Census Campaign, the Turtle Exclusion Tool (TED) project and the Standard Operating Procedure for the Vessel Communication and Support System will also be released.

Ministers of State for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry SP Singh Baghel and George Kurien will be present in this program. According to an official statement, certificates will also be distributed to excellent cooperative societies, fisheries farmer producer organizations, fisheries startups and climate-resilient coastal fishing villages. As part of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samriddhi Yojana (PMMKSSY), beneficiaries will also get water insurance certificates and Kisan Credit Cards.
