Weak start in stock market on Dhanteras; Sensex falls 350 points, Nifty below 24250

New Delhi| After Monday’s rise, the domestic stock market was again seen trading on the red mark on Dhanteras. The stock markets recorded a decline in early trade on Tuesday amid continuous withdrawal of foreign funds in the capital markets. BSE Sensex fell 322.24 points to 79,682.80 in early trade. Whereas NSE Nifty slipped by 86.55 points to 24,252.60 points.

Among the 30 companies listed in the Sensex, Bharti Airtel fell by nearly three per cent. Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra, Sun Pharma, Tata Motors, JSW Steel, Infosys and IndusInd Bank also remained in loss.

Shares of NTPC, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro and Nestle were among the gainers. In Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi and China’s Shanghai Composite were in loss while Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng were in loss.

American markets closed with a positive trend on Monday. International standard Brent crude fell 0.18 percent to $71.55 a barrel. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were selling on Monday and sold shares worth a net Rs 3,228.08 crore, according to stock market data.
