Uttar Pradesh: Health Ministry gives recognition to 5 new medical colleges

Lucknow| Yogi government is making a lot of efforts to fulfill the resolution of One District, One Medical College. It is through this effort that in the second appeal of the government, the Union Health Ministry has recognized 5 more new medical colleges in the state. While medical college seats in Kanpur Dehat and Lalitpur have been increased from 50 to 100.

DGME Kinjal Singh informed that on behalf of the department, permission for admission on 100 MBBS seats of self-governing state medical colleges of 5 districts of the state Auraiya, Chandauli, Gonda, Lakhimpur Kheri and Kaushambi and instead of 50 seats each of Kanupar Dehat, Lalitpur, an appeal was made again before the Union Health Ministry for permission for admission on 100-100 MBBS course seats. In this sequence, permission has been given for admission on 100-100 MBBS seats in all these medical colleges.  DGME further informed that under Section 28 (6) of NMC Act 2019 if LOP is not given by NMC even after making the first appeal then under the said section, appeal can be made again within 30 days. The appeal was made again under this rule.

Now 600 more MBBS seats have increased in the state. Thereby, the number of new seats of the current Academic Session 2024-25 MBBS course is increased to 1200. Earlier 7 new medical colleges of the state were recognized. In which MBBS was recognized in 100-100 MBBS seats in 5 Medical Colleges and 50-50 seats in Kanpur Dehat and Lalitpur Medical Colleges.

At the same time, earlier an appeal was made before NMC for admission to 100 MBBS seats each of the self-governing state medical colleges of Bijnor, Bulandshahr, Kushinagar, Pilibhit, Kanpur Dehat, Lalitpur and Sultanpur. In such a situation, NMC had given permission for admission on MBBS seats in 100 seats each while permission was given for admission on MBBS seats only in 50 seats each in the self-governing state medical colleges of Kanpur Dehat and Lalitpur.
