New Delhi| Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool has been launched by Airtel on Wednesday to stop spam calls and messages. Through this AI tool, users will detect spam as soon as calls and messages arrive. A few days ago, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had given strict orders to telecom companies to stop spam calls and messages. “99.5 spam messages and 97 per cent of spam calls can be easily identified through this AI tool”, Gopal Vittal, managing director and CEO of Airtel, told IANS

Describing the AI model, he said that our network receives 1.5 billion messages and 2.5 billion calls every day. Through this AI model we can track every message and call in 2 milliseconds, assaying at 250 parameters to tell if the call and message is spam”

Vittal said that this AI model was being worked on by Airtel for about a year. In the information given by Airtel, it was told that after the arrival of this AI tool, whenever users receive any spam call or message, spam will be written on its dial pad. With this, users will be able to easily identify spam calls and messages.

Vittal further said that getting spam information on the dial pad will make users aware. In this way the risk of fraud will also reduce. At the moment, we are able to identify 97 percent of spam calls through this AI tool. We are trying to cover the remaining 3 per cent in the coming period.

Further said that this service is free for all users and there is no need to download any special application for it. Earlier, TRAI had ordered all telecom companies to block all messages containing unverified URLs or APKs from September 1, 2024. Then later its deadline was extended by one month.
