US presidential election: Trump leads by 120 electoral votes, Harris on 99

Washington| Former U.S. President Donald Trump has received 120 Electoral College votes and Vice President Kamala Harris 99 votes. This information is according to the Associated Press, which was given after voting ended at 9 pm (Eastern time).
These early results are from states that have traditionally voted in favor of either Democrats or Republicans. This does not include the seven important ‘Battleground States’, where the results could be shocking.
According to the Associated Press, Trump is on the winning side in Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, Oklahoma, Alabama, Tennessee, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Louisiana. At the same time, wins have been predicted for Harris in Vermont, Massachusetts, Maryland, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Illinois and New York.
More than 270 votes out of 538 Electoral College votes are needed to win the U.S. presidential election. The outcome of this election will depend primarily on the seven Battleground States – North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada.
These predictions come as soon as the polls close, especially from states like Georgia, which will decide the future of the 2024 presidential election. These estimates are based on the history and early trends of these states, which are not expected to change much further.
In addition, more than 82 million American voters have already cast their votes, including in-person and postal voting. These numbers exceed 51 percent of the 2020 total of 158 million votes.
Harris and Trump ended their campaign in Pennsylvania and Michigan, both of which are battleground states. In total, there are seven such battleground states, which will decide the outcome of the 2024 White House. The votes of these states can sometimes go in favor of Democratic and sometimes Republican, hence they are also called ‘swing states’.
