U.P.: 10 billion dollar AgriTech economy to empower farmers
Lucknow: In its bid to transform Uttar Pradesh into a leading state in agriculture and empower farmers, the Yogi government plans to develop a 10 billion dollar AgTech (Agriculture Technology) economy. The initiative will create employment opportunities for 10 lakh youth.
This ambitious initiative is expected to yield transformative results in the future, benefiting not only the state’s farmers but also its entire population.
To foster innovation in agriculture, the Yogi government is collaborating with international giants such as the World Bank and Google. These partnerships aim to encourage AgTech startups and create employment opportunities for the youth, driving the modernization of agriculture in the state.
Through this initiative, the Yogi government envisions agriculture as a modern, high-tech, profitable, and sustainable industry. Farmers will be closely linked with the latest developments and innovations in AgTech, empowering them to complete agricultural tasks more independently and efficiently. This forward-thinking approach is set to reduce farmers’ reliance on external resources.
The Yogi Adityanath government has set an ambitious goal to transform Uttar Pradesh into a $10 billion AgTech economy within the next five years. By empowering farmers with advanced agricultural technologies, the state is poised to become a leader in AgTech excellence.
The government plans to achieve this target through strategic investments, an effective policy framework, and the promotion of strong public-private partnerships. This initiative will not only meet Uttar Pradesh’s agricultural needs but also contribute significantly to national and global food security.
As part of this vision, one thousand startups will be launched, focusing on various sectors of agriculture, including packaging, processing, and storage. These innovations are expected to generate new employment opportunities for 10 lakh youth, thereby boosting agricultural productivity, increasing farmers’ incomes, and ensuring robust food security. This initiative aligns with the broader vision of a prosperous and self-reliant Uttar Pradesh, where agriculture drives economic growth and farmers lead a technological revolution.
The Yogi government will enhance collaboration between AgTech companies and farmer producer organizations (FPOs) to promote the adoption and distribution of innovative agricultural technologies to increase farmers’ income. It will foster closer ties, with FPOs acting as important intermediaries. This will further empower FPOs to better understand and address the needs of their members.
At the same time, AgTech companies will be able to scale their solutions more effectively, reaching a broader base of farmers and making modern agricultural technologies more accessible and beneficial to all.
